CROSSROADS Pregnancy Resource centers cannot function without the support of ministry partners like you!
The right of every woman to give birth and the right of every child to be born” was the motto of Birthright Centers which were founded in 1968 by Toronto, Canada resident Louise Summerhill. Birthright opened Ephrata’s first pregnancy center on May 21, 1984, and then opened Moses Lake’s first pregnancy center on June 1, 1984. The name Birthright was changed after its Canadian founder died and agencies in the United States split with the parent organization. After approximately ten years of offering services to newly pregnant women Birthright became 1st Way of Moses Lake, a Crisis Pregnancy Center offering free and confidential help. Ephrata’s Birthright also changed their name over to Pregnancy Support Services of Ephrata. Over the next several years 1st Way of Moses Lake continued to expand and offer help including: anonymous free pregnancy tests; videos, books and pamphlets; maternity clothes, layettes, referral for medical, adoption and legal services. In 2006, 1st Way of Moses Lake would change its name to Crossroads Resource Center. Although the name changed once again the services it provided to Moses Lake and surrounding communities did not change. Then in 2009, Crossroads Resource Center reached new heights as it went medical with its OB Ultrasound machine. In 2012, the name changed to Crossroads Pregnancy Resource Center a crisis pregnancy center that continues to offer free and confidential services including pregnancy tests, limited OB Ultrasound confirmation, options counseling, parenting classes, community referrals, post-abortion help, baby clothing and diapers (0-24 months), information on sexually transmitted infections and information on abstinence. Pregnancy Support Services of Ephrata contacted Crossroads Pregnancy Support Services in the fall of 2012 asking for help with their center. A new milestone was reached on March 25, 2013, when Crossroads Pregnancy Resource Center added Ephrata as a satellite center. What was known as Pregnancy Support Services of Ephrata is now known as Crossroads Pregnancy Resource Center of Ephrata. Now joined together and stronger, both of these centers are able to reach out to help more women in George, Quincy, Ephrata, Soap Lake, Lakeview, Coulee City, Almira, Wilson Creek, Moses Lake, Othello, Ritzville, Warden, Mattawa & Royal City.
2014, marks 30 years that each of these pregnancy centers have provided hope, love, and support to our community’s pregnant women.
